ReplyDeleteThe studio was Warner Brothers. Merrie Melodies is a brand for that short animated cartoon product.
The director of the animated films was Chuck Jones. Shlesinger is important in animation history. he eventually sold his sanimation studio to Warner Brothers.
Chuck Jones, up until 1942, was creating animation that heavily referenced the style of Walt Disney Studios.
The new style of animation directed by Chuck Jones was termed stylized animation. It was more 'cartoony' and snappy. The new style moved away from the realistic style of Disney at that time.
Chuck Jones worked at Disney Studios for a short stint for an uncredited part in Sleeping Beauty.
"Feed the Kitty", is indeed one of my favourite Warner Brothers cartoons of that era (that answer was revealed by clicking on the treasure chest in Blackboard).
